Staying in the loop

The Book Bus BuddiesFeedback from our returned volunteers this year has been close on 100% favourable and the many constructive suggestions we have received will help make the project even better for 2011/12. It is this level of enthusiasm and commitment to the Book Bus that keeps the project alive. For those of you who would like to maintain your links with the Book Bus and help us with our fundraising efforts at home we are creating a network of “Book Bus Buddies.”

The aim of the Book Bus Buddies network is to raise awareness of the Book Bus here in the UK and to encourage donations from community and corporate donors. If you would like to put some of your time, talents and experience into supporting the Book Bus then why not consider joining us as a Book Bus Buddy?

Fundraising for the Book Bus

In 2011 we are aiming to raise £5,000 to install library facilities in 5 schools in Malawi. Periodic replacement of book stock is an ongoing expense although we are setting up a book donation scheme which will open up a recycling route for those with suitable books to donate. Our “Book in every hand” campaign for 2011 aims to build up enough book stock so that we can donate a book to every child that we work with in Malawi. Our target for this campaign is 2000 books and £1000 to cover the cost of distribution. With the lion’s share of funds going directly to the project, fundraising for the Book Bus is sure to bring fulfillment to any donor.

What can you do as a Book Bus Buddy?

First of all, contact us to discuss your fundraising plan and where you would like to concentrate your efforts. As a fundraiser for the Book Bus Foundation you will have access to Book Bus publicity material and a fundraising pack with ideas for attracting donors. Book Bus Buddies are never alone; because we are a network, you’ll be able to keep in touch with other buddies to exchange fundraising ideas and tips. Being a Book Bus Buddy is a great opportunity to meet friends, learn new skills and put existing ones to good use.  It's also a chance to be part of a team that is improving children’s lives one book at a time.

UK Volunteers

The Book Bus attends shows and events in the UK throughout the year and we often need extra help to staff our "road show". In 2010 we attended the Hay Festival and 10 volunteers joined us during the week to share their experiences with the public. If you would like to join one of our Book Bus road shows, please contact us to find out more.

If you are interested in becoming a Book Bus Buddy, please call us on 01822 616 191 or send your details to This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it and we will send you a Book Bus Buddy information pack.
