Book Bus Safari - Zambia to Malawi

Book Bus Safari Zambia to MalawiJoin us on a safari with a difference as we take the Book Bus from Zambia to Malawi this October.

Truly an adventure of a lifetime... a combination of volunteering on board the Book Bus, wildlife safaris, watersports and festivals!

Starting in the Zambian capital of Lusaka you will travel East to South Luangwa National Park. Basing ourselves here for a week we visit local community schools on board the Book Bus reading with and telling stories to young children.

Book Bus Victoria Falls, Zambia

Book Bus ZambiaZambia is home to one of the Seven Wonders of the World, Victoria Falls. We are based in the frontier town of Livingstone, 10 Km from the falls. The Livingstone project started in 2008 and our partnership with local primary schools and orphanages grows from strength to strength.

The borders of four countries converge near Victoria Falls (Botswana, Zimbabwe, Namibia and Zambia) which means onward travel options are many and varied.

Book Bus Meheba, Zambia

Book Bus Meheba ZambiaUNHCR settlement camp

The Meheba project started in August 2009. The pilot was so successful that the UN have invited us back (thanks to our ’09 pioneer volunteers!) and we will repeat it in 2010.

Working with refugees in Africa is not for everyone: however, if you are willing to square up to life in a refugee camp the opportunity to really make a difference is waiting for you. We partner with half a dozen primary schools that serve young children who live within the camp. Everyone has a story to tell and some of the tales are quite harrowing; but the thirst for knowledge and the desire for literacy are strong.

Book Bus Ecuador

Book Bus EcuadorEcuador's name comes from the Equator, which divides it unequally, putting most of the country in the Southern Hemisphere. It may be the smallest Andean country, but it has four distinct and contrasting regions. The Costa, or coastal plains, the Sierra, or Andean uplands, the Oriente, or Amazon jungles and the Galápagos Islands, volcanic outcrops of land 960 kilometres west of Ecuador. The Book Bus is active in all four regions of the country.

Coming to Malawi - watch this space

Book Bus MalawiBook Bus Malawi

One of the things you find in Malawi are children....everywhere.

About 47% of the population is under the age of 15.

This October we will be launching our fourth Book Bus project... this time in Southern Malawi.
